Jesus' Birthday Cake

A family favorite preserved from the original recipe book.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Super Moist white cake mix
  • 1 (3-ounce) package raspberry gelatin, not instant
  • 1 (3-ounce) package lime gelatin
  • 2 cups boiling water, divided
  • 1 (8-ounce) container Cool Whip

Directions

  1. Prepare the cake as directed and bake in two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cool for 10 minutes, remove from the pans, then place the cake layers top-side up in clean pans.
  3. Poke each layer every 1/2 inch with a utility fork.
  4. Prepare each gelatin flavor separately with 1 cup boiling water.
  5. Pour the raspberry gelatin over one layer and the lime gelatin over the other.
  6. Refrigerate for 3–4 hours.
  7. Frost with Cool Whip.
